Beverly Joann (Brown) Newman, 86, of Cambridge died Saturday, November 08, 2014 at Genesis Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November12th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge. Rev. Todd Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday- at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Joann Newman memorial fund.
Beverly Joann Brown was born June 8, 1928 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Wesley J. and Mary June (Fawcett) Brown. She was educated in Kewanee schools. Beverly married Wilbur Newman on June 1, 1947 in Woodhull. He died on June 11, 1996. The couple farmed in the Cambridge/Woodhull area until his death when she moved into Cambridge.
She had been a member of Clover Chapel United Methodist Church and it’s Women Society. She was also a member of FAN (Friends & Neighbors Club), rural Cambridge/Woodhull and enjoyed flowers, collecting chickens and was an avid gardener when living on the farm.
Survivors include her son Gary G. (Linda) Newman, Moline; two grandchildren, Melanie Bax, Moline and Daniel Newman, Alabama; six great grandchildren, Brittany, Ragan, Tyler, Jacklyn, Leigha, Ryliegh; two great great grandchildren, Jaida and Karlie and a sister, Darlene Smith, Kewanee.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
