Barbara E. Truedson, 91, formerly of Sheffield, a resident of Manor Court at Liberty Village Peru, IL died there on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. As per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10:0 0 a.m. on October 24th at The Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 510 Richard Mautino Dr., Spring Valley. Father Jeff Windy will celebrate. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 24th at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield. Memorials may be made to Illinois Valley Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 284, Peru, IL 61354. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield is assisting the family with arrangements.
Barbara Emmerson was born on January 22, 1924 in Mineral Township, Bureau County, IL the daughter of Camiel and Ida (VanDeKeere) Emmerson. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Thomas “Bud” Truedson on July 11, 1946 in Sheffield. Bud died on Feb. 21, 2003.
Barbara had worked as a teller at Farmers State Bank in Sheffield for over 27 years. She had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield. She enjoyed counted cross stitch, puzzles, and loved to cook and bake.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Tear (Maureen O’Brien) Peoria, and Patricia Brokaw (Tom Wagner), LaSalle; three grandchildren, Mark (Holli) Brokaw, Waukee, Iowa, Thomas (Renae) Tear, Upper Saint Clair, Penn., and Abigail Tear, Las Vegas, Nev.; four great grandchildren, William Tear-Swigart, Moses Swigart, Jacob Tear, and Maggie Tear; sister, Betty Ann Ringenberg, Sheffield; and former son-in-law, Bill Tear of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Arlene Emmerson.
