Audrey E. DePauw, 90, formerly of Sheffield, a resident of Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo died at the home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield. Father Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield.
Audrey Middleton was born Nov. 8, 1927 in Thomas, IL the daughter of William and Mary (Pottet) Middleton. She married Ervin DePauw on Sept 16, 1944 in Sheffield. He died on July 25, 2011. Audrey had worked as Laundry Supervisor at Prairie View Home, Princeton for 9 years and then for 17 years at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo until retiring in 1993.
Audrey was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield and had been a member of Hillcrest Home Auxiliary. She had been a volunteer at Hillcrest for many years and had taught ceramic making at the home. Audrey and her husband had portrayed Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Hillcrest Home for many years. Audrey enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Karen) DePauw, Wyanet, Richard (Debra) DePauw, Mineral, and Thomas (Peggy) DePauw, Kewanee. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and five brothers.
