Arlo W. Morey, 87, of rural Kewanee died on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. (noon)., on Tuesday, Oct 10th at Fairview United Methodist Church, Annawan Township. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlo was born December 8, 1929 in Kewanee, IL the son of Marion F. and Hazel R. (Palmer) Morey. Arlo served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He married Carla J Wolfe at Fairview United Methodist Church on December 13, 1953. She survives. Arlo was employed by Goldstar FS for 35 years before retiring on December 31, 1991.
Arlo was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He was also a charter member of Valley View Club, Cambridge where he was instrumental in the ground breaking and process of building the country club. Arlo loved his many trips with family and friends fishing in Minnesota and Canada.
Survivors include his wife, Carla; two daughters and (spouses) Annette (Marty) Verdick, Champaign, IL, Tanya (Mike) Procell, Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Neal (Elizabeth) Verdick, Chicago, Lisa (Jon) Penner, Bloomington, IL, and Adam (Heather) Procell, Baton Rouge, LA; three great grandchildren, Dana and Claire Penner, and Autumn Procell; and an exchange daughter, Caroline Winneke, from Australia. Arlo was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lynn.
