Alvin G. “Bud” Hulting, 97, of Annawan died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29th at Fairview United Methodist Church, south of Annawan. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Annawan-Alba Library or the Annawan Alba Fire Department. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.
Alvin was born September 21, 1917 in Geneseo the son of Oscar and Olive (Forsell) Hulting. He attended country school near Geneseo and graduated from Geneseo High School. He then attended the University of Illinois at Champaign. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the European Theater. On October 5, 1947 he married Leila M. Dynes in Fairview Church in Annawan Township. She died on December 13, 2012. The couple moved to her family farm south of Annawan where they farmed and raised their family. In 1973 they moved to Rose Hill and resided there until moving into Annawan in 2008.
Bud was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He was a 60 year member of Stewart Lodge #92 A.F. & A.M. Geneseo. Bud served for over 50 years on the Fairview Cemetery Board. He was a member of Sturms-Schmitt Post 7176 V.F.W., Annawan. Bud was a member of Annawan Kiwanis Club, having served in all of the offices of the club and serving as Lt. Governor of District 17 of Kiwanis. He had also served on the Annawan School Board and had been a member of Henry County Farm Bureau and its Prime Time organization. Bud had also served as a board member of Kewanee Production Credit.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Nancy Hulting, Annawan, Russ and Deb Hulting, Loveland, CO, a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Fred Anderson, Menomonee Falls, WI, five grandchildren, Judd Hulting, Andy Hulting, Elizabeth Wied, Kathryn Nielsen, Kristofor Anderson, and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother, Mauritz (Gladys) Hulting, Geneseo and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. His parents, wife, brother Carl and sister, Marie Hulting preceded him in death.
