Allan Lincoln Utech, 97, of Washington, Iowa died Saturday, June 17, 2017. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge Illinois. Rev. Rick McDaniel will officiate. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation or the Washington United Methodist Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services in Cambridge is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Utech was born February 12, 1920 in New Canton, Illinois the son of Ernst H. Sr. and Nellie H. Evans Utech. He married Emma Leeper. The couple later divorced. He married Margrette Elizabeth Anderson Johnson on May 25, 1969.
He was a graduate of Illinois State University. He taught high school Vocational Agriculture. He also worked for the State of Illinois as a supervisor and later as a consultant all in the Vocational Agriculture field. He was an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corp and retired from the military as a First Lieutenant.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and had held several church positions in Springfield IL. He served as president of the Land of Lincoln Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed gardening, family and traveling.
Surviving are his wife Margrette of Washington IA, 2 daughters Janet (Steve) West of Hiawatha IA, and Ruth Utech of Springfield IL, one granddaughter, one grandson, 4 step-grandsons and several great and great great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-daughter Kay Bennett, step-sons Roger and Steve Johnson, sisters Nellie Sund, Pearl Utech, Evelyn Myers and three brothers Raymond, Ernst Jr. and Perry.
