Alice Hyfte

February 26, 1913 — March 20, 2010



Alice R. Van Hyfte, 97, of Annawan a resident of Royal Oaks Care Center, Kewanee, went to be with her Lord from there on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24th at Fairview United Methodist Church, rural Annawan. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan. Memorials may be made to Annawan Rescue Squad or Fairview United Methodist Church.



Alice was born February 26, 1913 in Kewanee the daughter of Glenn and Nettie (Orr) Hogeboom. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1931. Alice married Albert Lee Van Hyfte on Sept. 4, 1943 in Peoria, IL. He died on May 22, 1998.


Alice was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and had served as chairman of the worship committee. She had also been a member of Henry County Farm Bureau. Alice loved flowers, working puzzles, cooking and homemaking.


Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jennet and Dean Russell, Bradford, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Shari Van Hyfte, Palo, IA; seven grandchildren, Ted Folger, Tim and Carrie Folger, Brenda and Lon Dryoel, Christy Paver, Larry Russell, Kelly and Donald Bland, and Lee and Beth Van Hyfte; 17 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Margaret Hogeboom, Annawan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters Vera Lee Stocking and Grace Bugbee, two grandchildren, Beth Van Hyfte and David Sutton, a sister, Grace Skutnick and two brothers, Orville and Harold Hogeboom.
