Alfred Alexander Lambin, 90, of Galva, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10 th , at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Galva. Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Galva Fusiliers at the church following the memorial service. There is no visitation. Memorial may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, the Kidney Foundation, or the Heart Fund. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Galva, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Alfred was born November 25, 1924 in Melcher, Iowa, the son of Jules and Zelia Herrdon Lambin. He graduated from Alpha High School in 1943 and was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1943 to 1946 receiving six Bronze Stars. His marriage to Joan Swanson took place on June 6, 1948 in Ophiem, Illinois.
Mr. Lambin attended Bradley University in Peoria and the Quincy School of Gemology. He owned and operated jewelry stores in Galva, Geneseo, and Kewanee. His memberships included the Messiah Lutheran Church and the Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion Post No. 45, Galva.
Those surviving are his wife of 66 years, Joan, a sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite “Susie” and Rodney Carlson, Rio, IL, many loving nieces and nephews, and the Frank Cortes family. His parent, three brothers, Jules, Gus, and Edward, and a sister, Celina, preceded him in death.
