Margaret Atwell

March 29, 1929 — September 18, 2022


Margaret M. Atwell, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  A private graveside service will be held on Friday, September 23rd, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Dirk Wilkinson will officiate. There is no visitation.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.  Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cambridge or the Cambridge Public Library.

Margaret Mae Reilly was born March 29, 1929, in rural Cambridge, the daughter of Frank L. and Mable M. Palmer Reilly.  She was educated in Cambridge schools.  Her marriage to Eldon C. Atwell took place on September 24, 1947, in Cambridge.  He passed away on April 30, 2014.

The couple farmed in Weller Township for 36 years before retiring and moving to Cambridge in 1990.  She was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau and the First Baptist Church of Cambridge.  Margaret enjoyed baking and cooking for the many farm hands that worked for them over the years.  She was also an avid reader.

Those surviving are sisters, Shirley Robinson and Joyce Becker, both of Cambridge, and Janet Reilly of Geneseo.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Diana Wilkinson, of Cambridge.  Her parents, her husband, sisters, Lucy Peterson, Nina Peters Leander, and Mary Jane Gilvin, brothers, Edward and Bill Reilly, and a special nephew, Bryan Underwood, preceded her in death.
