Lynette R. Leander, 61, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at her home from complications with lung cancer. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 23rd, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. A private funeral service will be held on Monday. Cremation will follow the service and her cremated remains will be buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Fire Department or the Cambridge Ambulance Service.
Lynette Rae Echelberger was born November 10, 1960, in Kewanee, the daughter of Paul W. and Margaret L. Vincent Echelberger. She was the youngest of four children and the only girl. Lynette was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1978. Her marriage to Mitchel Leander, her high school sweetheart, took place on September 13, 1980, in Cambridge. She was employed first at the Walmart store in Geneseo in 1989, and then she continued her employment with Walmart in Kewanee by transferring there when the new store opened.
She was a kind soul who made everyone around her feel at ease. Lynette enjoyed bowling with her friends and loved the outdoors. She also loved fishing, gardening, landscaping, cooking, feeding birds, and attending her grandchildren's events. Lynette was on a softball league in Geneseo and was a member of the Hook and Bullet Club in Victoria. She also was on a bowling league in Geneseo and a member of the USBC. Lynette was an incredible spouse, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt, and friend to everyone who knew her.
Most of all, she loved her family including her husband, Mitch, three sons and daughters-in-law, Luke & Breanna Leander and Eric and Renae Leander, all of Cambridge, Aaron Leander, Orion, and five beautiful grandchildren, Paige Lynette Leander (18), Heidi Ann Leander (16), Maggie Diane Leander (12), Everett Dean Leander (2), and Easton Joy Leander (4 months). Other survivors include brothers, Kevin Echelberger and Tom (Judy) Echelberger, all of Cambridge, Steve (Tina) Echelberger of Moline, and a brother-in-law, Mike Leander, Nekoma. Her parents, her life-long friend, Angie Carey, her sister-in-law, Cheryl Leander, and her brother-in-law, Mark Leander, preceded her in death.
