Janet B. Chonsky, 68, of Minot, North Dakota, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12th, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Matt Kamprath will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Janet Beth Hepner was born September 16, 1953 in Geneseo, the daughter of Dale and Gloria Swanson Hepner. She was educated in Galva schools and graduated from Galva High School in 1971. Her marriage to Frank Chonsky took place on December 18, 1978 in Peoria, Arizona.
She was primarily a stay at home mom and military wife. Janet was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Minot. She was a fabulous cook and homemaker, loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed decorating for the holidays. She and Frank had lived in many different cities in this country as well as in other countries during his military career. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she was always a special, loving person in the eyes of her family and friends.
Those surviving are her husband, Frank, daughters, Amy (Heath) Brandon, Aledo, TX, Michelle Poole, Minot, ND, sons, Corey (Amber) Chonsky, Norfolk, VA, Michael (Anna) Chonsky, Surry, ND, and grandchildren, Dillon and Clay Poole, Elias and Zane Brandon, Caylah, Charlotte, and Lillian Chonsky. Other survivors include her mother, Gloria Hepner, Cambridge, a sister, Diane Hasson, Cambridge, brothers, David (Nancy) Hepner, LaSalle, IL, Daniel (Debbie) Hepner, Horicon, WI, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
