Gary Bergland

Gary W. Bergland, 71, formerly of Andover, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Island.  Cremation has been accorded and a private graveside committal service will be held at the Andover Cemetery.  Pastor Reed Pedersen will officiate.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Gary Wayne Bergland was born March 29, 1951, in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Gunlek and Irene Buttrey Bergland.  He attended Moline High School and graduated in 1969.  He was united in marriage to Katherine Roberts in 1985.  Their son, Jason W. Bergland, was born December 16, 1985, and passed away on April 1, 2021.  Gary did home improvement work in the Cambridge area and then was a welder at Pines Trailer in Kewanee.  Due to a traumatic brain injury, he was unable to work in his later years and had to take early retirement.

Those surviving are two granddaughters, Eden and Abbagayle Bergland, Silvis, a sister, Barbara Sandberg, Cambridge, a nephew and a niece.  In addition to his son, Jason, Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gunlek Bergland, his mother and stepfather, Irene and Sherman Acord, and a brother-in-law, Lester Sandberg.
