Craig Smith

Craig S. Smith, 50, of rural Geneseo died on Monday, August 8, 2022, at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Abilities Plus, Kewanee.

Craig Stephen Smith was born June 10, 1972, in Henry County the son of John T. and Shirley (Small) Smith.  He attended Southwest School in Geneseo, Belle Alexander Grade School in Kewanee, Cambridge Grade School, and Kewanee High School.  He also attended summer school at Abilities Plus in Kewanee.

Craig had worked at Abilities Plus in Kewanee.  He had also been a custodian for the Cole Memorial Cabin in Geneseo, delivered the Shopper Paper for several years, and had helped collect old newspapers on Monday mornings behind the Republic Newspaper office for several years.  Craig had competed in the Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling in the “Geneseo Fun League” having won first place with his team in 1992.  He also enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Jimmy Johnson in NASCAR.

Survivors include his sisters, Sherry Ludwig, Geneseo, Julie (David) Weeks, Coal Valley, brothers, David Smith, Kent WA, and Wendell (Michele) Smith, Moline; four nieces, two nephews, and seven great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
