Ruth Anne Ross, 62, of Libertyville, Illinois passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights after a long battle with lung disease. She was born on October 23, 1956 in Geneseo, Illinois to Lowell E. “Pete” and Marlene (Mutchler) Ross. Ruth went to Geneseo public schools, graduating from J. D. Darnall High School in 1974, where she was active in band and drama. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Illinois State University. Ruth’s first season in the working world began as a computer programmer in a prominent health care supply company, moving up to the level of vice president of information technology, retiring from Cardinal Health in 2002 and then began a second career as Financial Officer for her church home, the United Methodist Church of Libertyville, serving there for 16 years. Ruth enjoyed crafts like crochet and sewing, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family, taking joy in spoiling her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers, Becky Keim (Dan Schmidgall), Howard (Amy) Ross and Cheryl (Steve) Luehring; nieces and nephews, Stephen Clong, Matthew (Jill) Clong, Peter (Wendy) Vandermeulen-Clong, Colton (Jessica) Anderson, Nathan Ross, Robert (Marlaina) Anderson, Ryan Anderson, and Nikki (James) Ross Bishop; three aunts, many cousins, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Ruth was also blessed by all the special friends who helped her in her life’s journey.
A special thanks from her family to Jean & Blaine and Cherrie & Jose for always being there for Ruth and allowing us to rest easy, knowing she was safe in your hands. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Marvin Keim and sister-in-law Toni Heller Ross.
