Paul Joseph Lams, Jr.

September 14, 1990 ~ February 20, 2018 (age 27)

Paul Joseph Lams, Jr. “Joey” to family and friends, 27, of Geneseo died on February 20, 2018 at his home from an undiagnosed heart condition following a month of flu-like symptoms and pneumonia.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25th at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo where visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. before the service.  Pastor Chris Ritter will officiate.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made for a Paul J. Lams, Jr. Trade School Scholarship Fund to be set up by his family.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo is assisting the family.


Paul “Joey” Lams, Jr. was born September 14, 1990 in Moline, IL the son of Paul J. Lams, Sr. and Scarlet (Ortiz) Lams.  He graduated with honors from Sherrard High School in 2009 and from Blackhawk College, Moline in 2013. 

Paul married Sarah Lawson on July 29, 2017 in Geneseo.  She survives.


Paul had worked as a Tooling & Quality Engineer for Jewell Group.  He had also owned and operated his own pallet business called Paul’s Pallet Pile.


Paul had a very strong work ethic and dearly loved his wife.  He also had a love for all animals especially his dog, Ruger, their cats, and his nephew dog, Rusty.  He had also formed a special bond with Sarah’s grandfather who recently passed away.


Survivors include his wife, Sarah; Father, Paul J. Lams, Sr., Milan and his friend Vickie; his mother, Scarlet Lams, Milan; brother, James Lams, Milan; sister, Jennifer Warfel, Crystal Lake, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernie and Nancy Lawson, Geneseo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Aaron and Janelle Lawson, Rock Island; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kendra and Hector Escobedo, Glendora, CA; brother-in-law, Ethan Lawson, Breckenridge, CO; sister-in-law, Rachel Lawson, Geneseo, two nieces, two nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
