Istvan "Steve" "Hoop" Holper, III, 58, of Andover, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.  Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 18th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services.  There will be a private committal service at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Steve Holper Memorial Fund.


Istvan Holper, III was born March 8, 1959 in Chicago, the son of Istvan and Donna Holper, II.  He was educated in Paw Paw, IL and graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1977.  His marriage to Gina Dilenbeck took place on October 12, 1991 in Geneseo.  They later divorced.  Steve worked for the State of Illinois - CMS, in Henry County from 1986 until retiring on August 1, 2017.  He was a member of the Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990 and the Illini State Pullers.


His hobbies were restoring antique cars and trucks, and he was currently restoring a 1950 Dodge pickup.  He also made engines and transmissions for hot rods and attended many area car shows.  Steve was a great friend, always willing to help anyone.  He was a devoted father to Camden, who was his pride and joy.


Those surviving are a son, Camden Holper (Kaela Moran), Andover, his father and step mother, Steve and Pat Holper, Lancaster, MO, sisters, Donna Patton, Virginia Beach, VA, Tammy Wyatt, Leland, IL, Pam Morris, Franklin Grove, IL, and Wanda (Al) Frieberg, Beverly Hills, FL.  Other survivors include brothers, Vance (Linda) Holper, Ohio, IL, David Vaughn, Franklin Grove, IL, Ronnie Vaughn, Ottawa, IL, and an aunt, Diane Minard, Aurora, IL.

His mother and a brother, Charles Vaughn, preceded him in death.
