Dennis V. “Pedro” Jones, 66, of Hooppole died on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Interment services will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 24th (Friday) at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sublette, IL. A precession to the cemetery will leave from Hooppole Fire Station at 10:00 a.m. to go to the cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded and memorials may be given to Hooppole Fire Department, C/O Nels Carlson, 339 Main St. Hooppole, IL 61258 to help purchase equipment for the Department. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dennis was born March 14, 1952 in Kewanee, IL the son of Dennis W. “Dude” and Aileen (Gray) Jones. He graduated from Annawan High School in 1970. On Feb. 26, 1986 he married Cindy Bulfer in Princeton, IL. She survives. Dennis had worked for International Harvester/Case, East Moline. In retirement he had worked for O’Connell’s Jellystone Campgrounds, Amboy during the summer. He also enjoyed helping farm at Sommer’s Farms, rural Hooppole. Dennis had served as a volunteer with the Hooppole Fire Department for over 25 years. He had also served on the Hooppole Village Board. He especially enjoyed the water fights competitions between Fire Departments.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; daughters, Samantha Jones and Julieann (Todd) Dunn; five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Bonnie (Mike) Collins, and Marianne (Steven) Struble; and brothers, David (Maria) Jones and Douglas (Karen) Jones. Special Honorary Pallbearers include, Terry Sommers, Bob Dietz, Nels Carlson, Dean Meier, Isaac Jones, Jacobii Jones, Lakena Jones, and Laurence Roddey, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
