Betty K. (Knuth) BroddAugust 12, 1928 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 89)
Betty K. Brodd, 89, formerly of rural Lynn Center, IL died on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Long Term Care Unit at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16th at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover. Rev. Reed Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be in Andover Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Betty Brodd Memorial Fund. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty Knuth was born August 12, 1928 in Sabula, Iowa the daughter of Gustav and Veva (Jones) Knuth. She was raised in Sabula until 4th grade when the family moved to Cambridge where she continued her education, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1945. On Feb. 9, 1947 she married Dellmore E. Brodd in Cambridge. He died on Sept. 10, 2006. Betty and Dellmore farmed in the Andover area for 20 years and then owned and operated Brodd Mobil Service in Andover for 22 years until retiring in 1988.
Betty was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover where she had served on Church Council, as financial Secretary and chairman of the service committee. She also served as Share Food Coordinator for Cambridge area from 2002 - 2015, as assessor for Lynn and Andover Townships, on board of Directors of Cambridge Community Lanes, as Ladies League Secretary and Treasurer, as Chaplin for Andover American Legion Auxiliary and on the Thrivent County Board. Betty loved to do crossword puzzles and watch wheel of fortune.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Jean Dahlberg and her husband, Roger, of Eastman, WI; her son Dr. Dell Brodd, III and his wife Pat, of Ottawa, IL; two grandchildren, Kari Jean Zabel and her husband, Eddie, of Pickett, WI and Matthew Dahlberg and wife Katey, of Gays Mills, WI; and four great grandchildren, Jack and Evelyn Zabel and Millie and Dylan Dahlberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, George Knuth and sister, Floris Hedbloom.
