Richard "Dick" E. Craine, 57, of Derby, KS passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Dick was born on January 1, 1955 to Frances and Harold Craine in Havre de Grace, MD. He married Sheryl Struckman in Elgin, IL on January 9, 1982. He is survived by his wife Sheryl, son Kevin and daughter Courtney, all of Derby, KS. Dick is also survived by his mother Frances, brothers Roger (Lenore) Craine of Sheffield and Dean (Penny) Craine of Princeton, along with 6 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Gene" Craine.
Dick was a 1973 graduate of Manlius High School. In 1977, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of Nabor House fraternity. Dick was always known as an avid Fighting Illini fan, and later as a proud Illini dad. Most recently, he was also a very proud Kansas Jayhawk father.
After graduation, Dick was employed by Production Credit Association. For several years, he was employed by the USDA Meat Grading Service and several meat packing houses in the Chicago area, as well as Fargo, ND. For the past 13 years, Dick had been employed by Cargill Meat Solutions in Wichita, KS. A memorial was held in Derby, KS on Thursday, September 6, 2012. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 3pm to 6pm at the Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in Annawan, IL. Services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 11:00am at the Sheffield United Methodist Church in Sheffield, IL. Burial will be in Galva, IL. Memorials may be left for Richard Craine Memorial Fund.
